Deep Cryogenics International

Deep Cryogenics International (DCI) is a deep cryogenic treatment company headquartered at 1740 Skyway Drive, Longmont, Colorado. DCI treats mining and construction wear parts down to −300 °F, manufactures and sells DCT chambers — including the world's largest at 45,000 lb capacity — and operates the only research lab in the world dedicated exclusively to deep cryogenics. Founded in 2018 in Canada; the US corporation opened March 2025. Trademark: Making Things Last Longer®.

Where did DCI come from?

A machine shop with a wear problem. Jack Cahn previously operated a 35-person precision machine shop serving JPL and Lockheed, and discovered cryogenic treatment while extending tool life machining nickel, kovar, and titanium. He has applied DCT to production tooling, developed DCT test procedures used on JPL's Mars Exploration Rover program, and worked with researchers at NIST's cryogenic processing lab.

Deep Cryogenics International was founded in 2018 in Nova Scotia, Canada, built a full-spectrum test lab, added industrial-scale chambers, and opened a demonstration center in Pincher Creek, Alberta in 2022. In spring 2025, DCI opened its U.S. facility in Longmont, Colorado — now the company's home — and took its first U.S. order a week after opening: 48,000 lb of manganese steel cone crusher parts for a major U.S. mining company, treated that April.

Who does DCI supply?

We are approved suppliers to Coeur Mining, Freeport-McMoRan, Gold Fields, Centerra Gold Inc., Kinross Gold Corporation, Newmont Corporation, Weir ESCO, Imperial Oil and Canadian Natural Resources Limited. Mining and oil-sands operations account for much of the work; the published results on the evidence page come from their sites and their own baselines.

What intellectual property stands behind the process?

An issued U.S. patent, a registered certification mark, a registered trademark, draft engineering standards, and a pending chamber patent. Jack Cahn's deep-cryogenics IP filings date back to 2010; the issued and pending milestones:
